A Resounding Statement: Gladiators Break Their Duck!
The Quetta Gladiators have officially arrived! In a display of grit, talent, and tactical brilliance, the Gladiators dismantled the Hyderabad Kingsmen to secure their first victory of the season with a convincing 40-run win. After a rocky start to the campaign, the boys in purple have finally found their rhythm, leaving the Kingsmen in their wake.

Shamyl Hussain, a name that is fast becoming synonymous with class, struck his second consecutive half-century in just his second PSL match. Along with Hasan Nawaz, who also hammered a crucial 53, the duo resurrected the Gladiators’ innings after an early collapse, putting together a massive 89-run partnership off 64 balls.
The Comeback Blueprint
Batting first, the Gladiators were in a spot of bother early on, losing captain Saud Shakeel and Rilee Rossouw within the first four overs. However, the youngsters showed maturity beyond their years. By rotating the strike and picking their moments, they turned the tide. A late-order cameo from Tom Curran, who smashed 31 off just 18 balls, propelled the Gladiators to a formidable 174 for 8, a total that proved to be a mountain too high for the Kingsmen to climb.
Abrar Ahmed Leads the Bowling Charge
Defending 175 is never easy on a pitch that has historically favored chasers, but the Gladiators’ bowling unit was clinical. The tone was set in the very first over by Alzarri Joseph, and from there, Abrar Ahmed took center stage. Abrar was simply unplayable, tearing through the top order to finish with a stellar 3-23. The Kingsmen were never allowed to breathe, reeling at 37 for 3 at the end of the powerplay.
Kingsmen Under Pressure
While Hassan Khan offered a glimmer of hope with a quickfire 31, the result was never truly in doubt. The Kingsmen’s woes were compounded by their own errors, including five no-balls—a statistic that will surely haunt their coaching staff. Having now lost both their opening games, the pressure is mounting on the Hyderabad camp.
