Australia Announce Strong Squad for Bangladesh Tour in June

Australia have announced a strong squad for their upcoming tour of Bangladesh in June, where they will play both ODI and T20I series against the Tigers.

Mitchell Marsh will lead the side, which includes several big names such as Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Tim David, Marnus Labuschagne, and Cameron Green.

Australia have packed the squad with plenty of all-round options as well. Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, and Aaron Hardie are all included, while the batting unit features players like Matt Renshaw, Josh Philippe, and Travis Head.

Bowling Department

In the bowling department, the visitors have gone with a pace-heavy attack that includes Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johnson, Riley Meredith, and Xavier Bartlett. Adam Zampa and Matthew Kuhnemann will handle the spin duties.

One of the major talking points from the squad announcement is the inclusion of Joel Davies, who has earned his maiden call-up in the absence of Glenn Maxwell.

Experienced Names Missing

Several experienced names, however, are missing from the tour. Steve Smith, Matt Short, and Marcus Stoinis have not been included as they are set to feature in Major League Cricket during that period.

Australia have also added all-rounder Liam Scott to the squad.

Workload Management

Regular ODI captain Pat Cummins and fellow fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have been rested from both the ODI and T20I squads. Cricket Australia decided not to include the pace trio as part of workload management following their recent return from injury and a busy red-ball schedule.

Travis Head, Cooper Connolly, and Xavier Bartlett will join the squad after finishing their IPL commitments.

Match Schedule

Bangladesh and Australia will play a three-match T20I series on June 17, 19, and 21 at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.

Before that, the two teams will face off in a three-match ODI series on June 9, 11, and 14 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
