The much-awaited news has finally arrived. The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is all set to round his arms for bowling. According to the latest reports, on Thursday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be up against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 7.30 PM.

On Wednesday evening, ESPNcricinfo informed that Cameron Green is expected to begin bowling in KKR’s game against LSG on Thursday.

So far, KKR has played 3 matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL). In 3 matches, the team has claimed on 1 point as they were defeated in two, and one match against the Punjab Kings was washed out because of heavy rain in Kolkata.

In the first two matches, which were against the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. In those matches, Cameron Green was on the field, but did not come to bowl.

After the Mumbai Indians MI match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane informed that only Cricket Australia knew when Green would be able to bowl. Later, it was reported that the Aussie all-rounder is yet to receive the green signal from Cricket Australia before bowling for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

While Ajinkya Rahane replied with “Ask Cricket Australia”, Cricket Australia responded that the franchise was well aware of the status of Cameron Green.

“Cameron has a lower-back injury, which is being managed, but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period,” A CA spokesperson said before.

“Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to returning in around 10-12 days. KKR has been communicated with and is fully aware of this information,” the spokesperson further said.

Cameron Green’s return in bowling will definitely help the Kolkata Knight Riders as their search for their first win in IPL 2026 continues. KKR’s bowling department looked unsettled as they were hit by multiple Injury issues and the absence of Mustafizur Rahman.

Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out of the tournament because of injuries and another pacer, Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana, is yet to join the team. With no options in hand, KKR was forced to utilise an inexperienced bowling combination. If Green prepares for bowling, then it will be a major boost for them.

“I think when hopefully Green starts to bowl soon, the combination will be slightly different,” Ajinkya Rahane said before, addressing concerns over their bowling combination.

“At the moment, we have to see the balance and who can bowl well for us. Batting-wise, as I said, we batted really well, but finding that balance with the ball is really important. So, hopefully, Green starts to bowl soon, [and] then we can find out whether the combination will be okay,” he said.
