CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed Forced to Quit IPL 2026 Due to Quad Injury
CHELMSFORD:
The Chennai Super Kings’ strong start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has been dealt a major blow with the news that key fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has been ruled out of the tournament due to a quad injury.
A Pint-Sized Punch
Khaleel Ahmed, who has been one of the most prominent fast bowlers for CSK, suffered the injury during his team’s match against the Delhi Capitals. The left-arm seamer has been struggling with the condition for weeks now and has finally been forced to hang his boots for the season.
The extent of the injury is severe enough to keep Ahmed out of the action for at least a couple of months, according to CSK’s medical staff. This puts a massive question mark over CSK’s chances of repeating their five-time IPL title success in 2026.
Impact of Injury on CSK
CSK, known for their strong squad depth and ability to bounce back from setbacks, will now have to rely heavily on other players to compensate for the loss of Ahmed.
The team will have to regroup and readjust their strategies to account for the loss of their top bowler, and it remains to be seen how effectively they can do so.
CSK’s coach Stephen Fleming was tight-lipped about the team’s prospects when quizzed by the media on Friday.
