Tamim Iqbal Takes Charge as BCB President
Tamim Iqbal has recently taken charge as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), leading the current ad-hoc committee. His appointment has been warmly welcomed by many, especially because he has only just stepped away from his playing career and understands the realities of current cricketers very well.
Bangladesh’s ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz is also pleased to have Tamim in charge. The two have already spoken, and Tamim has encouraged the team to keep up their recent good form.
Boosting Team Confidence
Speaking at a press conference on April 16 ahead of the New Zealand series, Miraz said, “Yes, I have spoken with the president. The team is doing well, and he has boosted our confidence. He told us to keep playing the way we are.”
When asked whether the recent changes in the board and instability in the cricket environment are affecting the players, Miraz made it clear that the team remains focused. “We have been training as usual. Whatever is happening outside doesn’t affect us as professional cricketers. Our job is to perform. We don’t think about outside issues.”
A Positive Influence
Miraz also believes that Tamim’s recent experience as a player is a big advantage for the team. “We’ve played together, so he understands us very well – what we need, what we prefer. Since he has only recently retired, it’s a positive thing for the players.”
With Tamim at the helm, the Bangladesh cricket team is looking forward to a new era of success and growth. The team’s confidence and focus are likely to be boosted by Tamim’s leadership and understanding of the players’ needs.
