Haris Rauf Weighs in on Nahid Rana’s Bowling: Pace Alone Isn’t Enough
After lighting up the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with Peshawar Zalmi, Nahid Rana has now returned to Bangladesh to take part in the New Zealand series.
Nahid impressed everyone with his sharp and disciplined bowling in the PSL, keeping things tight and consistently putting batters under pressure. His pace, regularly close to the 150 km/h mark, clearly troubled the batters.
Haris Rauf’s Take on Pace and Bowling
Lahore Qalandars pacer Haris Rauf was asked about fast bowlers like Nahid and the growing focus on pace. Responding to that, Rauf said, “People always talk about pace, pace, pace. But when someone bowls consistently fast, the same people ask – doesn’t he have slower balls? Why not use variations? As a bowler, everyone wants to be complete in all conditions. The most important thing is to understand the conditions and what the pitch demands. Sometimes the ball carries well, sometimes you need to use slower deliveries. These things matter.”
Rauf also praised Nahid’s performance, saying, “No doubt, Nahid is bowling really well. He’s picking up wickets. Every bowler has a different style. Some rely on pace, some on swing. If you look at Shaheen Shah Afridi, he’s brilliant with the new ball because of his swing. Others may not have swing but have pace. Every bowler plays to their strengths.”
What’s Next for Nahid Rana?
Nahid Rana is now focused on the ongoing New Zealand series, while his PSL team Peshawar Zalmi have already secured a place in the playoffs.
With his impressive performance in the PSL, Nahid has shown that he has the potential to make a significant impact in the world of cricket. As he takes on new challenges, it will be exciting to see how he adapts and grows as a bowler.
