Shoriful Gives Update on Mustafizur’s Injury Ahead of Second ODI
Bangladesh had planned to include Mustafizur Rahman in the playing XI for the first ODI, but a last-minute injury ruled him out, and Shoriful Islam stepped in instead.
Shoriful made the most of that unexpected opportunity, bowling brilliantly and picking up 2 wickets while conceding just 27 runs.
Ahead of the second ODI, Shoriful spoke to the media and also gave an update on Mustafizur’s condition. “He’s doing quite well now, Alhamdulillah,” Shoriful said.
He also mentioned that everyone in the squad is ready to step in whenever needed. At the same time, there’s a bit of disappointment after losing the first match, but the team is focused on bouncing back.
Team Readiness and Adaptability
“Alhamdulillah, I bowled decently, but we still lost the match, so it hurts a bit,” he added. “Pitch conditions or weather – those things are not in our control. We have to adapt to whatever is given to us. That’s how we’ve prepared.”
Shoriful made it clear that all 15 players in the squad are match-ready. “Everyone in the squad is prepared to play. Ultimately, it’s up to the coach and team management to decide the XI. That’s not in my hands,” he further said.
Series Update
New Zealand currently lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 after winning the first game. Bangladesh will look to level the series when they face New Zealand in the second ODI on April 20 in Mirpur.
