Meet the members of Tamim Iqbal’s interim BCB committee
The National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the board of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), citing irregularities in the election process. Questions over the board’s credibility had already grown after seven directors resigned one by one. On Tuesday (April 7), the decision to dissolve the board was officially announced.

A fresh BCB election will now be held within the next three months. Until then, cricket operations will be handled by an 11-member ad-hoc committee. Former Bangladesh captain and legendary batter Tamim Iqbal has been appointed chairman of the committee. Widely regarded as one of the finest batters in Bangladesh’s history, Tamim had planned to contest the recent BCB election but withdrew after raising concerns about irregularities. After those claims were later validated, the NSC dissolved the board and handed him the responsibility of leading the interim body.
Three former national cricketers are part of the committee. Alongside Tamim, there are Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Athar Ali Khan. Nannu, also a former Bangladesh captain, previously served as chief selector and remained involved with cricket administration. Athar Ali Khan, meanwhile, became a well-known commentator after his playing career and will now take part in policy decisions until the election.
Among the other members are individuals with strong professional and public backgrounds. Rashna Imam, a barrister herself, was among the first names announced. She is the daughter of prominent barrister Akhtar Imam and the spouse of MP and state minister Bobby Hajjaj. Mirza Yasser Abbas, a senior official at Dhaka Bank and son of politician Mirza Abbas, is also included.
Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, who studied mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto and finance at Imperial College London and Aston University, has also joined the committee. Israfil Khasru, known as an entrepreneur, columnist and sports organizer, is another member.
Salman Ispahani has long been associated with cricket development, especially at grassroots level in Chattogram. Rafiqul Islam, a former board director and key figure in club cricket, and Fahim Sinha, another former director who had spoken against election irregularities, are also part of the committee.
The ad-hoc body also includes Tanjil Chowdhury, who played a major role in the success of Prime Bank Cricket Club and previously served two terms as a BCB director. He has also worked as chairman of Prime Bank and held leadership roles in financial institutions.
