Abdur Razzak Appointed as Spin Bowling Coach of Bangladesh HP Unit
Former Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzak is set to return to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in a new role after being appointed spin bowling coach of the Bangladesh High Performance (HP) unit.
Sources confirmed the development to BDCricTime.
A New Chapter for Razzak
Razzak, who previously served as a BCB director during Aminul Islam Bulbul’s board, will now begin a completely new chapter in his cricket journey as a coach. Interestingly, this will be his first official coaching role.
After retiring from cricket, Razzak moved into administration and selection work rather than coaching. He initially joined the national selection panel alongside Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Habibul Bashar Sumon.
Experience in Team Selection
Later, when both Nannu and Bashar stepped away from their roles, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu became chief selector and Razzak continued working closely with him for a long period.
Over the years, Razzak has been heavily involved in team selection across multiple levels of Bangladesh cricket. From the national side to the ‘A’ team and emerging squads, he played an important role behind the scenes.
Because of that work, he has also spent years closely following domestic cricket and monitoring players around the country. Many inside Bangladesh cricket believe that experience gives him a strong understanding of the system and the upcoming generation of cricketers.
Recent Involvement in BCB
Before returning as a coach, Razzak had also taken part in the latest BCB election after leaving his selector’s role. He contested from the district and divisional category and became a board director unopposed. He remained in that position until the National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved the board.
