Domestic Cricket Resumes in Bangladesh
After a period of inactivity, domestic cricket in Bangladesh has finally resumed, with the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) currently underway.
The BCL has already kicked off, with Rajin Saleh, one of the leading coaches in domestic cricket, coaching East Zone. The resumption of cricket is credited to the efforts of Tamim Iqbal, who led the ad-hoc committee in getting cricket back on the field.
Rajin Saleh Thanks Tamim Iqbal
Rajin Saleh expressed his gratitude to Tamim Iqbal, stating, “At the end of the day, we are all cricketers. Whether players or coaches, everyone loves being on the field. I want to thank Tamim. There was some uncertainty among players, management, and coaches… but now that we have assurance, it feels really good.”
The DPL is the main source of income for many players, and its resumption has generated excitement among them. However, after one round of the BCL, there will be a break before the Premier League begins, with the rest of the BCL resuming about a month and a half later.
Potential Impact of Break on Player Momentum
Rajin Saleh feels that this gap could disrupt the rhythm of the players, “Of course, a break like this can affect momentum. It takes time to adjust to a format. But these are professional players, many of them are from the national team, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for them. Still, restarting after such a gap might be a bit challenging.”
Despite the potential challenges, the resumption of domestic cricket in Bangladesh is a welcome development for players, coaches, and fans alike.
