Hollie Armitage Named Captain of MI London Women Ahead of Women’s Hundred 2025
Hollie Armitage Appointed Captain of MI London Women for 2025 Hundred Season
In a move that signals both continuity and ambition, Hollie Armitage has been named captain of MI London Women ahead of the 2025 Women’s Hundred season. The appointment marks a reunion with head coach Lisa Keightley, with whom she enjoyed title-winning success at Northern Superchargers in 2024.
Proven Leadership Meets Fresh Beginnings
The new-look MI London franchise, rebranded after the Ambani family acquired the former Oval Invincibles, has wasted no time in building a competitive squad. One of their boldest moves was securing Armitage in the draft — and installing her as captain immediately.
Keightley, who made the move to London during the winter, expressed her confidence in Armitage’s leadership:
“It is no secret that we hoped Hollie Armitage would lead the side after signing her in the auction. The role of captain in a short-form game is crucial, and Hollie brings a brilliant cricket brain and a degree of calmness to make crucial decisions under pressure.”
Under Keightley’s guidance, Northern Superchargers claimed their maiden Women’s Hundred title in 2024 — a campaign in which Armitage’s leadership played a pivotal role. Now, the duo will aim to replicate that success in the capital.
A Leader Forged in County Cricket
Hailing from Yorkshire and currently representing Durham in county cricket, Armitage has steadily built a reputation as one of the game’s most composed and intelligent leaders. With six England caps to her name, her international experience adds further weight to her credentials.
She previously captained Northern Superchargers for four consecutive seasons, stepping in after Lauren Winfield-Hill’s departure. Now, history repeats itself — but in reverse — as Armitage succeeds Winfield-Hill at MI London, while Winfield-Hill returns north to Sunrisers Leeds following her release.
Excitement Builds at The Kia Oval
Armitage expressed her pride and enthusiasm at being named skipper of the newly branded side:
“Being named MI London’s women’s captain is a huge honour as we start an exciting new chapter. Lisa is a terrific coach to work alongside, and we are eager to replicate last year’s success in MI London colours.”
She also praised The Kia Oval, a venue she describes as “always such a great ground to play at,” noting the electric atmosphere brought by large crowds during the Hundred.
“We can’t wait to get going,” she added — a sentiment likely shared by fans anticipating a dynamic new era in women’s franchise cricket.
Looking Ahead
MI London’s squad build continues, with Keightley confirming they are monitoring performances in the ongoing Vitality Blast. Final selections will be made in July, as the team prepares for a competitive campaign with championship aspirations.
With a proven coach-captain combination at the helm, MI London Women are shaping up to be serious contenders in the 2025 Women’s Hundred — a tournament that continues to elevate the profile of women’s cricket across England and beyond.
