Simon Doull Snubs MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya; Names Kieron Pollard the Best IPL Finisher

Former New Zealand fast bowler and ace commentator Simon Doull recently named Kieron Pollard the best finisher of all time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Doull was speaking to Cricbuzz and participating in a ‘winner stays on’ format, where he was asked to compare a series of players one by one on certain metrics. The selection of players represented the best of the end overs batters in IPL history. Doull was initially asked to choose between two players, David Miller and Glenn Maxwell, and he selected the South African left-hander who has played for several teams, including Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants. Miller was a crucial member of the Punjab Kings line-up that finished runners-up in the 2014 IPL and has consistently performed well in the end overs throughout his career. His standout performance came in the 2013 season when he scored a century in 38 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after coming in to bat at number five. Doull preferred Miller to other notable finishers, including Glenn Maxwell, Rinku Singh, and Dinesh Karthik. However, Miller ultimately lost to Tim David of Australia, who has been impressive in recent years with his aggressive batting and became the second-fastest player to score 1,000 runs in the IPL. Doull kept David in the game for a long time, despite David’s relatively short career in the IPL. Interestingly, Doull picked David over several other prominent players, including Albie Morkel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan, Dwayne Bravo, and Hardik Pandya. Notably, Doull then took David out of the game by preferring MS Dhoni, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers in IPL history. However, in a surprising twist, Doull later named Kieron Pollard the best IPL finisher, giving him an edge over MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya, among others.
