Virat Kohli Breaks Multiple Records with Stunning 81 Against Gujarat Titans

Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the IPL, thanks largely to a brilliant knock from Virat Kohli. He played a match-winning innings of 81 runs and also added several big records to his name.

Kohli scored 81 off just 44 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. During this innings, he reached a special milestone. He became the first player in IPL history to hit 800 fours. Shikhar Dhawan is second with 768 fours, followed by David Warner with 663, and Rohit Sharma with 653.

300 Sixes in the IPL

Kohli also reached another major milestone in the same match – 300 sixes in the IPL. He needed just one six to get there, and he smashed it in the 8th over against Rashid Khan to complete the landmark. At the top of the six-hitters list is Chris Gayle with 357 sixes in 141 innings. Rohit Sharma is next with 310 sixes in 271 innings, while Kohli reached 300 sixes in 266 innings.

Kohli also made history by becoming the first player to hit 300 sixes for a single IPL team. Since the start of the tournament in 2008, he has played only for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

10,000 T20 Runs in a Single Country

There was another landmark waiting for him in this match. When he reached 49 runs, Kohli became the first cricketer in the world to score 10,000 T20 runs in a single country. He achieved this in India, doing it in 291 matches. Rohit Sharma is second on that list with 8,563 runs in 319 matches.

Kohli already holds the record for the most runs in IPL history. He is now just 11 runs away from reaching the massive 9,000-run mark in the league. On top of that, he is currently the leading run-scorer of this season, with 328 runs, overtaking Abhishek Sharma to go to the top.
