Bijoy Targets ‘Run Machine’ Form Ahead of Dhaka Premier League
Anamul Haque Bijoy is known for scoring runs for fun in domestic cricket, especially in the Dhaka Premier League, where he has often dominated with the bat. This season, he will be playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club, but he admits he is not fully ready yet to return to his “run machine” form.
One of the main reasons for this is the uncertainty surrounding whether the league would even take place this year. Now that it’s finally happening, with about two weeks left before it begins, Bijoy is hopeful of getting himself fully prepared in time.
Preparing for the Big Stage
When asked about returning to his usual run-scoring form, he said, “Honestly, I wouldn’t say I’m 100% ready yet. But I still have around 15 days in hand. I’ve started preparing mentally and have been practicing for a few days now. Hopefully, I’ll be fully ready before the Premier League starts.”
Bijoy also shared his relief after the confirmation that the league will go ahead. “Alhamdulillah. We had to be patient for a long time. It was tough emotionally, mentally, and physically. But now things are finally moving in the right direction. It feels really good.”
A New Chapter with Mohammedan
Bijoy also spoke about playing for Mohammedan for the first time. The wicketkeeper-batter said, “It’s not exactly a childhood dream, but growing up, we always thought about Abahani and Mohammedan as the big teams. So yes, it’s a big deal. I’ve played for Abahani and Prime Bank for a long time. Now I have the chance to play for another big club. When you play for a champion team, your mindset also becomes like a champion. It’s a great opportunity for me.”
