CPL 2026 Set for Historic Expansion with Arnos Vale Debut

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to make history in 2026, as the tournament kicks off on August 7 with Arnos Vale in St Vincent and the Grenadines hosting matches for the first time. The announcement marks a significant milestone in the league’s growth, expanding its footprint across a record-equalling eight Caribbean nations.

Eight Nations, One Tournament

This year’s CPL will see action in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. The broad geographic reach underscores the league’s mission to bring top-tier T20 cricket to more fans across the region.

Pete Russell, CPL’s chief executive, emphasized the importance of expansion: “Expanding into new territories is an important part of our vision.” With Arnos Vale joining the roster of host venues, the league strengthens its connection to passionate cricket communities.

Arnos Vale: A Ground Steeped in History

Arnos Vale is no stranger to international cricket, having hosted 36 men’s internationals and five matches during the 2024 T20 World Cup – games largely defined by spin-friendly conditions. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and strong local support, the venue is expected to deliver high energy and competitive cricket.

Russell praised the ground’s legacy: “It’s a fantastic venue with a proud cricket history. We know the fans in St Vincent and the Grenadines are passionate about the game, and we can’t wait to experience the energy and atmosphere they will bring.”

New Team, New Rivalries: Enter the Jamaica Kingsmen

2026 also marks the debut of the Jamaica Kingsmen, the CPL’s seventh franchise, adding fresh dynamics to the competition. The new team will kick off their campaign at Arnos Vale on Opening Day, facing the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on August 7.

Confirmed Fixtures at Arnos Vale

While the full fixture list has not yet been released, three matches at Arnos Vale have been confirmed:

  • August 7: Jamaica Kingsmen vs Antigua and Barbuda Falcons
  • August 8: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders
  • August 9: Antigua and Barbuda Falcons vs St Lucia Kings

All five existing franchises will feature in these early matchups, setting the tone for an action-packed group stage.

Playoffs Headed to Kensington Oval

The business end of the tournament will take place at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados, which will host all four playoff matches from September 16 to 20. The venue, known for its grand finals atmosphere, will welcome the Eliminator, two Qualifiers, and the Grand Final.

Scheduling Clash with The Hundred

One challenge looms on the horizon: the overlap with England’s men’s Hundred. With both leagues running concurrently, key players like Nicholas Pooran and Sherfane Rutherford may miss the final stages of MI London’s Hundred campaign due to CPL commitments.

This scheduling conflict highlights the growing density of the global T20 calendar, but also speaks to the rising stature of the CPL as a premier destination for top-tier talent.

A Tournament on the Rise

From historic venues to new franchises and broader regional inclusion, CPL 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet. With passionate fans, competitive pitches, and a packed schedule running through September 20, the Caribbean’s premier T20 league is poised to deliver another summer of unforgettable cricket.

Stay tuned for the full fixture release and prepare for lights, drama, and sixes under the Caribbean sky.
