The Western Australia Cricket Team: A Season of Change
The Western Australia cricket team has undergone significant changes, with several players losing their contracts. Fast bowler Bryce Jackson, who was the leading wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup, has been released by the team. However, the team has welcomed new faces, including Kieran Elliott, who has been signed from Tasmania.
Jackson had an impressive record in the One-Day Cup, taking 15 wickets at 22.13. However, he was unable to break into the team’s Shield side. He joins Teague Wyllie, Baxter Holt, and Keaton Critchell in not having their domestic deal renewed.
Gannon, who claimed 42 wickets at 24.38 in the Shield, has returned to Queensland. Fellow fast bowler Matt Kelly will focus on white-ball cricket. WA ended with their second consecutive wooden spoon in the Sheffield Shield under Adam Voges’ coaching.
A total of seven players have been released by the team, including fast bowler Bryce Jackson. The team has welcomed new faces, including Kieran Elliott, who has been signed from Tasmania. This will give WA an opportunity to welcome fresh faces into the squad after a disappointing season.
Kade Harvey, the general manager, said, ‘We feel now is an opportune time to welcome some fresh faces into the squad after a season that did not play out how we would have liked. We are thrilled to welcome Kieran Elliott into the program and believe he will complement our existing fast bowlers nicely.’
Beau Casson, the former left-arm wristspinner, has taken over from Voges as WA head coach. Voges will continue as coach of Perth Scorchers in the BBL.
